When some people think of ‘Square Dancing’, they are most likely to remember the older traditional style of the dance. Therefore, “it’s something my grandma and grandpa did.”
Grandma and Grandpa may still square dance but the style is considerably different now. Yes, we still have the allemande left and the dosado, but you’d been surprised at the wide variety of moves that are now the norm.
The music is different too. It’s not the “Hee Haw” style of music that so many people associate with square dancing. You’ll be surprised at the new sounds! Throw in some good old rock ‘n roll, some pop, some of the new country sounds or some of the more popular hits of today, add a caller and you’ve got a square dance!
Many simply say, “I did square dancing in school and it was a lot of fun. You’d be surprised to find out that it is still an active and fun pastime. Come on back!
Grandma and Grandpa aren’t the only ones dancing. Their children and their grandchildren are also up on the floor. It’s a good fun activity for the whole family.
The goal of the ‘4 Ways Family Dance Club’ is for families to be able to come out and have a great time in a family friendly environment. We welcome participants of all ages. However, we respectfully request children under 12 be accompanied by a parent, and we hope the parents will join in too. The cost of participating is very reasonable and you’ll find that you don’t need to break the bank to have a really great time.
Don’t want to square dance? Try Contra Dancing.
Come on in and you’ll find yourself kicking up your heels and having a great time.
